Course Objective

To recognize the types and characteristics of natural disasters and primarily earthquakes and
To know what kind of effects they have especially in urban areas are considered necessary for the management strategies likely to be implemented.
To have the knowledge about the developments in new management strategies and modern approaches in public administration
To introduce the management techniques applicable for emergency cases, evaluating the position of Türkiye by examining the experience of developed countries that have acquired the skill of living with earthquakes and defining the future sustainable and livable cities by developing applicable models at local and national levels.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To provide the equipments required for considering the basic concepts with respect to natural disaster-induced crisis management within integrated administration
2   To know natural disaster-induced crisis issues by making connections with the administrative structures of our country and of the world examples
3   To educate public administrators of future on crisis management.

3 Concept of management, developments in management strategies and modern approaches in public administration,
4 Crisis and crisis management, historical development and etymological structure of the concept of crisis, characteristics of crisis, crisis process, types of crisis, purpose and importance of crisis management, stages of crisis management and integrated crisis management,
5 Extraordinary management authorities and place of crisis management in Turkish
6 Public Administration and crisis management practices,

9 House Structuring and its Role in Natural Disasters, Settlement Strategies and House Structuring, Building Supervision and natural disaster-induced crisis relations
10 House Structuring and its Role in Natural Disasters, Settlement Strategies and House Structuring, Building Supervision and natural disaster-induced crisis relations
11 Country experiences by development level in climate-dependent natural disaster-induced crisis management (Avalanche, flood, freezing rain, tsunami, tornado, fire and etc.)
12 Country experiences by development level in the management of natural disaster-induced crises dependent on geological structures (earthquake, tsunami and etc.) Meteor rains, Volcanic activities (experienced events and future scenarios)
13 Epidemic diseases (avian influenza, epidemic invasion of grasshoppers and etc.) and crisis planning Presentation of Research Papers
14 General evaluation and reminder, reviewing the degree of achievement of the learning outcomes of the course by making a situation analysis of the period.
