Course Objective

The main objective of the course is to teach sampling methods to be able to create statistical reliable survey research

4   To be able to reveal problems encountered in field research

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The history of survey sampling, and basic sampling concepts
2 Introduce to probability and non-probability sampling methods
3 Expected value, variance, sensitivity and confidence ınterval
4 Simple random sampling: estimation of population total, mean and ratio
5 Simple random sampling:obtaining confidence intervals and necessary statistics for the populaton total, mean and ratio
6 The estimation of sample size
7 Stratified random sampling: estimation of population total, mean and proportion
8 Stratified random sampling::Obtaining confidence intervals and necessary statistics for the population total, mean and ratio
9 mid-term
10 Proportional, Neyman and Optimum Allocation and the sample size.
11 Systematic sampling
12 Cluster Sampling
13 Single stage cluster sampling: clusters of equal sizes
14 Single stage cluster sampling: clusters of unequal sizes
15 Sources of error in surveys
