Course Objective |
This course aspires to study political and economic transition of Türkiye with three concerns. First, it aims to unravel different modes of integration of Turkish economy with world capitalist structure at different historical periods. Second, it examines major changes and continuities in the political economy trajectory of the relations between state-capital-labour in Türkiye (such as development, industrialization, import-substitution, neoliberal period) from a historical point of view. What are the repercussions of the neoliberal transition in terms of production, finance, social policy, agriculture, relations of distribution and labour What are its successes, as well as limits and contradictions Third, the course equally aims to read how political economy of Türkiye is studied in literature from different perspectives. How are the relations between state and society studied in literature How can we situate these different perspectives in broader literature of International Political Economy |
