Course Objective

This course aims to focus on the importance of harmonization and standardization in international commercial law. The course will focus on international transportation agreements, international sale of goods, INCOTERMS and the institutions' role on drafting model agreements and rules. There will be special focus on settlement of disputes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate understanding of main issues of international commercial law such as international business transactions and international dispute settlement in order to identify and solve legal disputes.
2   Demonstrate understanding of harmonization and standardization in international commercial law.
3   Be able to follow the current changes in the field in order to examine the relevant topics.
4   Be able to acquire the skills to work as a team.

Assessment Criteria

1. Will learn the importance of harmonization in international commercial law.
2. Will identify possible problems in international commercial relations and propose possible solutions to prevent disputes.
3. Will identify the importance of alternative dispute settlement especially arbitration on international commercial disputes.
