Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the role of the manager and management functions, organization theory and interpersonal communication as they pertain to the management of work groups and organizations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Examine and understand modern management theory and practice, identifying different views of management.
2   Recognize and discuss the role of planning, organizing, leading and controlling in management using management concept and theories.
3   Understand the types of decisions made in business, and be familiar with the decision-making process explaining steps to be taken in making decisions.
4   Diagnose management issues, generate solutions, and recommendations to solve the issue.
5   Demonstrate an understanding of managerial ethics in order to maintain an ethical organizational environment.
6   Develop oral/written communication skills, to articulate and defend one's position.
7   Develop and enhance the essential interpersonal skills to be an effective team member.
