Course Objective

The aim of the course is to provide students a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship, the requirements of starting a business, the needs for developing a business plan and the analysis of the current environment. The course enables students to develop their abilities and skills to create, start and operate a new business. It provides comprehensive coverage of critical business issues and real world examples. Organized as part of the Entrepreneurship Support Programme and implemented under the KOSGEB Support Program Regulation, this course is equivalent to the Applied Entrepreneurship Education. Students who successfully complete the course shall be awarded a certificate of attendance for Applied Entrepreneurship Education. With this document, support will be provided to students from KOSGEB for jobs they planned to establish. Certificate of Participation and KOSGEB support will be given only to students of Turkish nationality.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate understanding of setting up a business in a complex environment.
2   Demonstrate the ability to comprehend the opportunities and risks of starting a business.
3   Evaluate the ability to conceive the relationship among the departments such as production, accounting, finance, marketing and human resource management to run a business.
4   Develop and implement a business plan for the possible entrepreneurship.
5   Appraise an understanding of the need to set specific, measurable, applicable, reliable and time-bounded objectives regarding the business plan.
6   Demonstrate understanding of how to make forecast and analyze environmental metrics in order to make the venture grow.
7   Develop oral/written communication skills; articulate and defend his/her position.
8   Develop and enhance the essential interpersonal skills to be an effective team member

Assessment Criteria

2. The learner will prepare effective strategic and implementation plans.
3. The learner will forecast more effectively

5. The learner will generate and screen options to meet the challenges and opportunities.

Assignment Evaluation Criteria
1) Title Page and Table of Contents: Completed with logo and business address, phone, fax, email, and web address. The table of contents includes Categories and page numbers. (10 points).
2) Company Description: Basic Description, Business Product or Service, Legal Structure, Location & Facilities (15 points).
3) Industry Analysis: Identifies industry size, segments, maturity, trends, and outlook; details possibilities, threats, and potential barriers to entry. Comprehensive competitive analysis provided. Target market and consumer demographics are defined. Competitive and unique advantages are provided. (15 points).
4) Management Plan: Defined form of business ownership, provided reasoning for chosen form. Provided organizational chart with member's names, roles, and qualifications. Additional stakeholders and solicited professional services were defined. (15 points).
5) Marketing Plan: Product, Price, Place, Promotion, Identify Market Segments, Customer and Competitor Analysis. (15 points).
6) Operational Plan: Human resources, facilities, and technology infrastructure needs outlined and addressed. Logistic and distribution needs identified. Implementation timetables and progress monitoring processes provided. (15 points).
7) Financial Plan: Comprehensive start-up cost report included. Identified possible sources of initial financing. Provided sales forecasts, income projections, pro-forma financial statements, break-even analysis, and capital budget. (15 points).

Final Presentation Criterion
1) Maintain eye contact (25 points).
2) Do Not Read (25 points).
3) Organize Slide Structure (25 points).
4) Have Comprehensive Knowledge of the Subject (25 points).
