Course Objective

This course aims to equip students with an understanding of the main issues in management of innovation at both strategic and operational levels. The course also studies concept of innovation, its importance in organizations and evidence of different approaches. Besides, the course focuses on strategies, tools and techniques, competencies, external and internal forces shaping strategy for managing innovation process better. Accordingly, firm s innovation capability, characteristics of new projects, core competencies, assessment and intellectual property are studied.

1   Discuss concepts of innovation, invention and research
2   Explore the main models of innovation process
3   Assess the impact of innovation on economy, society and organization
4   Discover the relationship of the strategic management to innovation to obtain sustainable competitive advantage
5   Develop conceptual framework for assessing the innovative capabilities of an organization.
6   Distinguish some problems related to innovation management process.
7   Utilize tools of innovation management to map innovation activities.
8   Develop oral/written communication skills; articulate and defend his/her position.
9   Develop and enhance the essential interpersonal skills to be an effective team member
