Course Objective

The aim of the course is to explore and discuss the problem of regional economic disparities. Theories of migration, location and regional economic growth will be introduced. Techniques for analyzing aspects of the regional problem will be presented. The course will cover current issues on regional economic policy and development particularly with respect to Türkiye-EU relations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The learner will be aware of regional differences and disparities.
2   The learner will be able to distinguish between the core and periphery characteristics
3   The learner will be able to grasp the importance of knowledge based economies
4   The learner will be able to draw parallels between macro economic developmant and regional economic development
5   The learner will be able to apply economic tools to analyze regional economic development
6   The learner will be able to present an interesting topic which will be chosen by his will and instructor's consent.
