Course Objective

The course surveys major sociological theories and studies that have appeared to explain the place and the function of religion in social life.

In doing this, the students are expected to develop an understanding in how religion has shaped individual and public life; what changes appeared in social roles of religion over time; and why religion still matters in social, individual as well as political life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To able to analyze and interpret social events about religion by learning the theories of sociology and religion.
2   To learn the basic theories of classical and modern pioneers of the sociology of religion
3   To understand and interpret relationships social evident and social behavior in contemporary societies.
4   To learn and implement emprical methodology.
5   To apply sociological methodologies to the Islamic Studies.
