Course Objective

Objective: Introduction to the legal regime of the airspace and international rules on relationships and issues related to aviation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain the basic concepts and principles of international air law,
2   To be able to specify the historical development of aviation and the air law,
3   To be able to explain the main sources of air law and normative activities of international institutions on aviation
4   To be able to explain the legal status of airspace, its boundaries and distinction from the outer space,
5   To be able to specify the international legal order on international navigation and transportation in the airspace
6   To be able to evaluate the issue of liability in air carriage
7   To be able to explain the international legal order on criminal matters in the airspace

8 Legal regime of the aircraft
9 Phases of the rules of international law relating air freedoms and the liberalization process
10 Air transport scheme in the European Union
11 The development of aviation industry and air law in Türkiye, and airspace issues related to Türkiye
12 International legal order on criminal matters in the airspace
13 Mid-term exam
