Course Objective

Mainly the purposes of the lesson are to provide students to have a good grasp of the types of political parties, the national and international regulations and judicial decisions about political parties; also to have them realize the vital importance and necessity of political parties in democratic political regimes; lastly to provide them to have knowledge of current problems of the legal system of the political parties.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to evaluate the emergency of political parties in historical context
2   To be able to explain the concept of political parties and their meanings in different political regimes.
3   To be able to explain the types and the specifications of political parties in general.
4   To be able to compare political party systems in national and comparative law systems.
5   To be able to show the historical development of political parties and also their functions in democratic political life and their legal status in Turkish Constitutional system.
6   To be able to explain the establishment, internal organization, and termination of their legal personality.

11 The prohibitions on political parties

13 The political party prohibitions in Constitutional Court and European Court of Human Rights
