Course Objective

The aim is for the students to learn the history Greek and Roman civilizations and localization of important cities in the ancient regions of Western Anatolia such as Ionia and Caria.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   know the history, names and boundaries of the main cities, rivers, lakes and mountains of the ancient regions in Western Anatolia,
2   know the main historical events which effect the ancient regions in Anatolia.
3   relate the current situation of archaeological and historical databases,
4   research of the modern and ancient literature about historical geography of Anatolia.
5   take individual responsibility in a group work and events with the help of surveys and seminars
