Course Objective

The objective of this course is to carry students knowledge of English to an advanced level and help them use their knowledge gained in this course in reading, writing and speaking skills.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, students are expected to be able to identify various grammatical structures
2   identify the functions of grammatical structures
3   compare and differentiate structures and units similar to each other in terms of function and formal structure
4   use his/her knowledge in grammar in other foreign language skills (reading, writing, speaking)
5   use his/her knowledge in grammar in making textual analysis during academic studies and follow the literature

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lectures: Lectures are designed in a way that students will remember their knowledge in grammar and carry this knowledge to an advanced level. After necessary information is given in class, it is assured through exercises that students can use their knowledge in practice
2. Discussion: It is an indispensable part of the course in terms of its creating an environment where students share their answers and their views about these answers
3. Quiz: It is important in terms of determining the level of students comprehension and the subjects where they have difficulties
4. Midterm Examination: It is used in evaluating students performance in the first half of the term
5. Final Examination: It is used in evaluating students performance throughout the term
