Course Objective

A student completing this class is expected to understand probability reasoning. In addition he/she would have a good understanding of working with probability and have basic notions of statistics.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Demonstrate an understanding of basic principles and concepts of probability.
2   Demonstrate understanding of conditional probability, independence and Bayes rule.
3   To understand probability (mass and density) and distribution functions of random variables, their properties and relationships, and to calculate moments of random variables,
4   Know the basic discrete and continous random variables distributions and how to work with them
5   Know how to work with joint distributions, conditional distributions and how to calculate basic two-variable statistics (covariance, correlation).
6   Obtaining distributions of functions of random variables
