Course Objective

The aim of the course is review of the basic concepts and theoretical tools that are necessary for the students to comprehend the recent advances in physics. Then a survey of a current research field is given in an international context, after which the course is focused on a systematic presentation of one or more research projects within this field.

1   being able to explain basic concepts within the research field at issue
2   being able to account for the most important problems and results in the research field
3   being able to give a general comparison on the research projects at issue and its outcomes
4   have acquired an introduction to a wide range of current topics in experimental and theoretical physics
5   being able to develop and present a successful presentation on a topic of current interest

Assessment Criteria

1. Midterm exam and assignments are taken as the achievements of students for the semester.
2. Assignments with quantitative exercises and essay-type questions will be used regularly to measure understanding of the fundamental concepts and reviews presented .
3. Final exam will be added to the success of the study of midterms and assignments, thereby the student's success will be determined.
