Course Objective

This course is designed to introduce and analyze a variety of themes and genres ranging from identity, individual vs society and ethics to American West in selected movies from the directors of both American and world cinema, and thus providing a comparative viewpoint.

1   to identify the distinct styles of selected directors and their movies
2   to analyze various themes and issues in the movies of the directors of both American and world cinema
3   to make comparative analysis between movies
4   to use technical terminology of cinema in analyzing the movies
5   to write movie analyses with a critical mind
