Course Objective

This course aims to examine the ways authors from different historical periods and cultural contexts critique and challenge both the backlash of strong social movements and the prevailing power structures and status quo.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to identify important historical periods and social and cultural movements as they are reflected in literary texts
2   to analyze the impact of significant social and cultural movements on individual and social levels in literary texts
3   to examine the ways the ways the prevailing power structures is questioned in literary texts
4   to analyze texts with a critical mind
