Course Objective

To be able to design CD, DVD and book covers and posters with color. Forming a multidirectional base in order to understand graphic design. While forming it the evolution of graphic design, design elements and principles, typography, visual perception, latest software and printing technologies will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowing the Arts & Crafts Movement, the characteristics of colonial and industrial typography, Art Nouveau movement, the effect of modern art on graphic design: cubism, surrealism, futurism, Dada, Russian Suprematism, constructivism.
2   To be able to design CD introductory poster and CD cover with color.
3   To be able to use the coloring and color moods of Adobe Illustrator and the selection tools and layers of Adobe Photoshop.
4   To be able to design movie DVD cover and introductory poster with color.
5   To be able to design a book cover, a bookmark and introductory poster with color.
6   Knowing what rhythm, figure ground and hierarchy is.
7   To be able to design a poster for social awareness and a theater poster with color.
8   Can design a ballet poster and a concert poster with color.
