Course Objective

To teach main piano techniques and practice methods; to performance works from piano repertoire.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns main piano techniques in appropriate to the level of third grade.
2   Transfers techniques which are gained from works practiced appropriate to the level of third grade to other works .
3   Knows characteristics of composer s periods in works appropriate to the level of third grade.
4   Compares with contemporary music to their period of music history in appropriate to the level of third grade.
5   Analyses works according to harmony and form in appropriate to the level of third grade.
6   Forms musical expression in works performed appropriate to the level of third grade.
7   Determines the effectiveness of the performance to detect mistakes in the playing works in appropriate to the level of third grade.
8   Evaluates about own performance in appropriate to the level of third grade.

Course Contents

1 Practicing whole of the scales and arpeggios and teaching of A Flat Major scale and arpeggio
2 Choosing and practicing an Etude
3 Sight reading of first movement of a Sonata
4 Starting to work a piece from Baroque period
5 Sight reading of a piece from Romantic or Contemporary period
6 Working on Etude in details
7 General rehearsal + Midterm Exam
8 General rehearsal + Midterm Exam
9 Analysis of the pieces musically
10 Teaching of F Minor scale and arpeggio, repetition of A Flat major scale and arpeggio
11 Working on the techniqual difficulties of the pieces
12 Controlling the pieces as regard as tempo, nuance and expression
13 Necessary exercises for removing techniqual difficulties
14 General repetition of whole scales, arpeggios and pieces
15 Final Exam
