Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to present the basic concepts of linguistics and to introduce Ferdinand de Saussure's studies and structuralism, European including Prague and Copenhagen linguistic schools and also American structuralisms, distributionalism, functionalism and such approachs to students. Furthermore this course aims to introduce the main linguisticians like Nikolay S. Trubetskoy, Roman Jakobson, Lucien Tesniere, Louis Hjelmslev, Leonard Bloomfield, Zellig Sabbetai Harris, Andre Martinet, Noam Chomsky, and with their studies and theories
