Course Objective

Course objective is to examine physical geography characteristics of Türkiye, such as location and position of Türkiye, its geological structure, geomorphological characteristics, climate, vegetation cover, soils/lands, rivers, lakes, seas, animal communities etc; to address and to develop suggestions on environmental problems, disasters, climate changes, encountered in our country, within the scope of habitat human relationships.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowledge of location and position, and natural environment properties of Türkiye (characteristics of geographical position, land forms, climate characteristics, subterranean-surface waters, vegetation and soil characteristics, natural animal communities).
2   To be able to make evaluations about Türkiye's geological past and its results.
3   To be able to make inferences bout natural environment conditions which are influential on the distribution of population.
4   To be able to analyse the relationship between distribution of economic activities and geographical conditions.
5   To be able to discuss the problems with regard to Türkiye's natural richnesses and the use of these.In this context, knowledge of environmental problems in Türkiye and of disasters.
6   To be able to evaluate the reasons of the developedness differences among the regions.
7   To be able to develop the preservice teacher's skill to be able to transfer 'Türkiye's natural environment/habitat potential in the context of habitat-human relations, and the significance of its conscious-sustainable use' to his/her students.
