Course Objective

At the end of this course students will have the knowledge of basic Ottoman Turkish language necessary to read and understand Ottoman History by using primary sources.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain the importance of Ottoman Turkish
2   To be able to know the Ottoman language of different periods
3   To be able to recognize the Arabic and Persian grammar elements in Ottoman texts
4   To be able to use Ottoman Turkish dictionaries
5   To be able to read printed documents in Ottoman language
