Course Objective

This course will enable participants to gain a full understanding of the importance and values of assessment and evaluation in early childhood education. It will also enable students to do authentic classroom-based assessment, interpret the information, and use it to plan curriculum that is responsive to and supportive of children s learning.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the importance and process of assessment and evaluation of young children.
2   Describe the techniques used for child assessment.
3   Understand standardized assessments used in early childhood.
4   Design and conduct assessments in all developmental domains.
5   Gather, interpret and use the information to plan responsive, supportive curriculum that ensures optimal learning for children.
