Course Objective

This course aims to teach fundamental concepts related to fundamental chemical laws, properties of matter, structure of atom, atom models, periodic table, chemical bonds, chemical reactions, liquids, solids and gases, acids-bases, thermochemistry, electrochemistry and to gain problem solving skills.

3   Calculating the reaction rate for a chemical reaction
4   Understanding gas laws
5   Calculating the pH of all kinds of acids and bases

2 Estimate of mole-mole, estimate of mass-mass, estimate of required solution volume for reactions
3 Limited reactive, teoric and experimental yields equilibrium and kinetic
4 Reaction rate, factors on the reaction rate, exotermic and endotermic reactions
5 Le Chatelier's principle, factors affected on chemical equilibrium
6 Solids, liqueds and gases, kinds of crystals, crystal structures in solids, phase diagrams
7 Surface tension liquids, capillarity, vizcosity
8 Review, evaluation of the course,midterm
9 Evaporation and boiling, gases' laws, kinetic teory and applications
10 Solutions, solution phenomen, concentration units, physical properties of solution
11 Solubility, precipation limit, acids, bases and salts
12 Acid-base theory, PH, acid-base reactions and equilibrium
13 Electrochemistry, oxidation-reduction
14 Redox reactions, thermochemistry
15 Final exam
