Course Objective

Language is handled as a cultural phenomenon and the different aspects of language and cultural relation are discussed from various perspectives.

1 Basic concepts of language and culture; sources and elements of culture;
2 Oral and written culture; material and spiritual culture;
3 Individual and social culture; culture as combinator and separator;
4 Culturing, culturing, cultural propagation and adaptation;
5 Culture in terms of cognitive, symbolic, structural-functional approaches;
6 Symbols as the language of the system;
7 Individual language and language acquisition;
8 General Review, Course Evaluation and Midterm Exam
9 The effect of language on human consciousness;
10 The relationship between culture, language, cognition and reality;
11 The function of language to convey knowledge and culture, social relation and communication;
12 Development and transfer of language and culture; national identity and language;
13 Discuss the interaction of changes in culture and language;
14 National cultures globalization, multilingualism and multiculturalism.
15 Final Exam
