Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide the students with the abilities to use and understand theory books, manuscripts and any other music related document written in Ottoman Turkish in order to aid their research and investigations.

1   Students who successfully complete this course should be able to:Identify the documents written in Ottoman Turkish
2   Have solid knowledge in basic written types and to read and understand accordingly,
3   Transcribe swiftly and efficiently,
4   Expand knowledge in hand written documents and theory books,
5   Express Ottoman Turkish terms and concepts with their equivalents in today s Turkish,
