Course Objective

The objective of this course is for students to be able to recognize the history of music with socio-cultural aspect

1 Introduction to the history of music: the early polyphony (organum), the relationships between music and church.
2 The idea of Renaissance and music.
3 Music life in Italy; the profile of musician, choir, music publishing.
4 Reformation and the way of baroque.
5 Musical genres in baroque, counter-melody, basso continuo.
6 The meaning of music or music for what
7 Johann Sebastian Bach.
8 Rococo and the way of englihtenment.
9 Englihtenment: the idea englihtenment in Europe.
10 Mannheim: musician and boss, the symphony and string quartets of Haydn.
11 War of the buffoons: opera from Gluck to Mozart.
12 Sturm und Drang: the political characteristics of Mozart's operas .
13 The new composer profile: Beethoven. The influence of Beethoven till 20th century.
