Course Objective

1. 20. to form a holistic view of the history of the development of Russian literature in the first half of the XIX century, the stages of its historical development.
2. To have knowledge about important authors and works of Russian literature during this period.
3. To form a holistic view of the literary process of the twentieth century.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1 1. The bounds of centuries in the historical-literary context. Literature of "Silver Age". 11. Creativity of M.Bulgakov. Mystical novel `The Master and Margarita.
2 2. Literary movements of Russian modernism. 12. B. Pasternak's creativity.
3 3. Works of A.I.Kuprin. 13. Creativity of A.I.Kupri.
4 4. Literary movements of Russian modernism. The poetics of symbolism, acmeism, futurism. 14. Works of A.I. Kupri
5 5. A.Block. Features of the poem. Mystical love. "Earthly and heavenly" correlation.
6 6. Acmeism. The crisis of symbolism. The discussion about Symbolism in the artistic expression of adherents of the society "Society of Poets" (N.Gumilev, S. Gorodetsky.
7 7. Maxim Gorky, founder of socialist realism in Russian literature in the 30s of the 20th century.
8 8. Characteristics of the period 1917-1920. Literary groups and literary warfare. The clash of general and specific poetics of imagism.
9 9. Poetics of Imagism. Works of S.Yeseni.
10 10. Creativity of M. Sholokhov. The 'Silent Don' novel.
