Course Objective

To teach students to study Turkish/Turkey issue in Russian literary works and Russian/Russia issue in Turkish literary works, to perform comparative analysis of Russian and Turkish literary works.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Know literary works related to Turkey in Russian literature.
2   2. Know literary works related to Russia in Turkish literature.
3   3. Perform comparative analysis of Russian and Turkish literary works.
4   4. Analyze the interdisciplinary nature of comparative literature.
5   5. Makes comparisons on texts from different cultures from a critical point of view.

1 1. Comparative Literature. 11. The novel Sodom and Gomorrah by Y.K. Karaosmanoğlu.
2 2. Turkish and Russian Literary Works in terms of Comparative Literature. 12. The first Russian immigrants in literary works by A. H. Tanpınar.
3 3. Literary and cultural relations between Russia and Turkey. 13. Turkish poems translated by F. Iskender.
4 4. Russian editions of literary works of such Turkish writers as Nazım Hikmet, Aziz Nesin, Reşat Nuri Güntekin, Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarça. 14. The story My Poplar in a Red Scarf by C. Aytmatov.
5 5. Turkish editions of Russian authors.
6 6. Istanbul and Turkey in the history of the first wave of Russian emigration. (N.I.Komandorov Russkiy Stambul ).
7 7. Midterm exam
8 8. Turkey in the play On the run by M. Bulgakov.
9 9. The story Travel to Istanbul by I.A. Brodskiy.
10 10. The theme of Russia in Turkish literature.
