Course Objective

To teach students how to translate Turkish text into Russian on the basis of translation theories and methods, taking into account the rules of the target language.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Learn about research techniques for Turkish-Russian translation.
2   2. Understand better the problems in the translation process
3   3.Develop strategies to solve the problems they face during translation based on the achievements acquired.
4   4.Learn about the types of written translation
5   5.Learn about the types of spoken translation.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 1. Turkish-Russian translation I. Introduction, content, materials, assessment criteria. 11. Grammatical differences between languages when translating from Turkish into Russian.
2 2. Approaches when translating from Turkish into Russian. 12. Equivalence issues in the translation of metaphors and idioms from Turkish into Russian.
3 3. The study of differences between languages in determining the subject of translation from Turkish into Russian. 13. Translation of exclamations. Issues of Style equivalence. Journalistic translations.
4 4. Differences between languages in determining the attribute of an object 14. Business language. Official documents, instructions, laws, etc. features of translations. Exercises. Practical translation.
5 5. Linguistic differences between languages in determining the action and its characteristics.
6 6.Features of spoken translation.
7 7. Midterm exam
8 8. Features of written translation.
9 9. Conversion types in translation.
10 10. Transfer of structural-logical and communicative information during translation from Turkish into Russian.

2. Participation in the midterm and final activities will be taken into account in the evaluation.
3. Attempts to cheat and plagiarize in the midterm and final exams will be evaluated as 0 (zero).
