Course Objective

To obtain recent dental advances in dental technologies. In this context, imaging of oral and maxillofacial area, application of digital prosthetic treatment approaches, recent advances in periodontal disease diagnosis as well as recent devices used in oral surgery are included.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have knowledge about digital radiography techniques used in dentistry.
2   To have knowledge about the basic principles of medical computed tomography and radionucleid imaging and their use in dentistry.
3   To have knowledge about the basic principles of magnetic resonance imaging and its uses in dentistry.
4   To have knowledge about the basic principles of ultrasonography and its uses in dentistry.
5   To have knowledge about the basic principles and indications of cone beam computed tomography.
6   To have knowledge about CAD/CAM blocks and laboratory processes used in digital dentistry.
7   To have information about current adhesive systems in restorative dentistry.
8   To have information about the current methods used in the diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases
9   To have information about current devices used in preprosthetic, orthognathic surgery, dental implantology and minor oral surgery.
10   To follow the technological development.

4 Basic principles of magnetic resonance imaging and its uses in dentistry Current devices used in prosthetic dentistry
5 The basic principles of ultrasonography and its uses in dentistry Current devices used in digital workflow
6 Basic principles and indications of cone-beam computed tomography
7 Image analysis in cone beam computed tomography
8 Structural properties and clinical indications of materials used in CAD/CAM systems
9 Laboratory operations in CAD/CAM systems
