Course Objective

The aim of this course is that the students can explain and comprehend the reflections of feminism on perfoming ars with examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, the students
2   1. will have learned the basic concepts of theatre art,
3   2. will have information about the examples of feminist theater in the West,
4   3. will have information about the examples of feminist theatre in Turkey,
5   4. will be able to evaluate a play from a feminist perspective,
6   5. will have information about feminist playwriters in Turkey and The World.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 1. Introduction: general framework of the course, the subject and scope of the sourse, information about the rules. .
2 2. To speak with the same grammar: basic concepts and definitions of gender, feminism and art.
3 3. In which contexts is the relationship between art and gender studied Subjects which producing art, objects which subjects of arts, and subjects consuming art
4 4. Feminist theatre in the West and Turkey from a herstorical perspective.
5 5. Pioneer women in theatre art our feminine theatre ancestors
6 6. Different women and their theatres
7 7. Can speak body! Stand-up shaws and an example: Eve Ensler Vagena Monologues.
8 8. Herstories perspective: Being a woman from Greek to Elizabethan stage
9 9. Woman in Greek Theatre: Medea, Antigone, Bakkhalar, Orestes, Iphigenia
10 10. Woman in Elizabethan Theatre: Lady Macbeth, Juliette, Viola, and others.
11 11 Caryl Churchill and the women s world
12 12. Zeynep Kaçar and her Feminist literatüre (Kabuk, Dış Ses, Medine, Yalnız)
13 13. Sue-Ellen Case and New Poetica!
14 14. Final: a discussion and evaluation of the semestre.
