Course Objective

Discrimination remains a universal problem. While some types of discrimination disappear, many of them continue in their most primitive form or under new forms. This course aims to examine anti-discrimination policies in the European Union and Turkey.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To recognise the concept and types of discrimination.
2   To recognise the place and importance of anti-discrimination policies in the European Union.
3   To have sufficient knowledge on aspects of discrimination in the European Union and Turkey.
4   To recognize the legal and institutional regulations on anti-discrimination in the European Union and Turkey, as well as their implementations.
5   To evaluate the relevance of European Union s anti-discrimination policies for Turkey.

Course Policies and Rules

1. Students are obligated to participate 70% of the lectures.
2. All kinds of plagiarism and attempt of plagiarism shall be concluded by disciplinary punishment.
3. Students supposed to read the materials before lecture and participate the classroom discussions.
4. Students are expected to make presentations about the subjects given by the lecturer and on the date determined.
5. The research papers that are not delivered on the day of the final exam will not be accepted.
