Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the relation between the categorical distinctions which are based on gender with tradition, power and political power. Also in this course, from the viewpoint of gender, conceiving the theoretical background behind the discrimination and everyday practices and evaluating sexist view points philosophically will be aimed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1-Knowing the concept of gender and the debates about this subject (PO1)
2   2-Conceiving the cultural dimension of the relations between knowing, reason and gender (PO 1, PO 3, PO5)
3   3-Conceiving the relations between gender, power and political power. (PO1, PO 8)
4   4-Knowing the theories that explain the gender and using these theories which answer the contemporary problems (PO1, PO 8)
5   5-Evaluating the acts of discrimination and violence in the country and the world with respect to the gender point of view (PO6)
