Course Objective

The Convention entered into force in 1.1.1988, and its the result of the opinion that the adoption uniform rules which govern contracts for the international sale of goods.Turkey became party of this convention.The purpose of this lesson is to give information about this convention and the impact of this convention on Turkish law of obligations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to identify the scope of the convention
2   to express the impact of this convention on Turkish law.
3   to come upon the convention and Turkish law of obligations.
4   to identify the obligations of the buyer and the seller in contracts for the international sale of goods
5   to note the remedies for breach of contract by the seller in contracts for the international sale of goods

1 The history and general imformation of the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
2 The geografical, temporal and personal sphere of application of the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
3 Sphere of application of the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods (about subject matter)
4 Interpretation of the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
5 Gap-filling in the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
6 Formation of the contract in accordance with the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
7 Delivery of the goods and handing over of documents in accordance with the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
8 Midterm Exam
9 Conformity of the goods and third party claims in accordance with the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
10 Passing of risk in accordance with the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
11 Breach of contract by seller in accordance with the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
12 Blocks of performance in the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
13 Remedies for breach of contract by the seller (buyer's rights) in accordance with the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
14 Damages and interest in accordance with the convention on contracts for the international sale of goods
