Course Objective

To educate dentistry students about patient history, intra-oral and extra-oral examination methods, systemic diseases in dentistry, basics of radiology and dental radiography techniques to make correct diagnosis and treatment planning.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defines examination and diagnostic techniques for patient evaluation.
2   Describes the normal anatomical structures in the oral cavity with their non-pathological variants.
3   Defines the oral manifestations of systemic diseases and defines complications related to systemic diseases during dental treatment.
4   Will be able to understand the basics and mechanism of x-ray formation and explain the physical properties of x-rays.
5   Applies appropriate methods for dental radiography on patients.
6   Should be able to interpret, explain and correct radiographic image errors.
