Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach the rules of the the classic line formed on the teaching of islamic calligraphy widely in terms of topics and their text.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   to distinguish and classify the text styles in classic Turkish calligraphy art.
2   to compare the styles (üslup) calligraphies with classic pieces of Turkish calligraphy art
3   to state classic designs in Turkish calligraphy art.
4   to compare the Turkish calligraphy art pieces with calligraphy arts of different cultures.
5   to prepare and present the classic and unique designs in Turkish calligraphy art.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

This course on calligraphy, terminology, historical development, and line types and spoon-line training, dovey working methods,
introduced in stages and examples of classic design with a presentation of the project will be prepared.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In this course, the contemporary examples of Turkish calligraphy art will be interpretated by comparing them with classic pieces and a presentation will be done by preparing designs with the examples of contemporary Turkish calligraphy art.

Assessment Criteria

To the question asked in exams out of 100 according to the number specified range prior to the exam,
responses will be evaluated by the sum of the calculated points.
The assignment of the course content and presentation criteria taking into account the overall score out of 100.
Project evaluation of the student's work, the right, and in the context of the principles of order and rigor,
Out of 100 points will be assessed.

Course Policies and Rules

The course begins with theoretical description, drawing with the help of visuals and personal applications about related subjects. Students who are late have right to enter the course in next half hour. Students who come to class after that time are evaluated as attended the half of the class. All of the attendances are evaluated in order to percentages given above. At the end of the classes, the subject of next class is announced to students as research subject. At the beginning of the next class, stages of the works are examined, mistakes are criticized and discussed.
