Course Objective

The aim of the course is to provide students with information about the principles of rational use of drugs to be used for the prevention and treatment of diseases in veterinary medicine and to write appropriate prescriptions.


Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Selects the drugs that should be used in sick animals according to the type of disease.
2   Knows the use and dosage of drugs in sick animals and calculates the dose.
3   Knows the parts of the prescription and its arrangement.
4   Evaluates the suitability of the drug (active substance, dosage schedule and duration of treatment) and designs prescription and preparation according to diseases.
5   Knows the drug interactions of drugs to be used together with the same prescription in the treatment of sick animals.
6   Explains the undesirable effects (side and toxic effects) that may arise from the use of drugs.
7   Adheres to the points to be considered while writing the prescription.
