Course Objective

The aim of this course is to determine the protozoan species seen in humans and domestic animals, to explain clinical, laboratory and necropsy findings in important protozoal diseases, to teach prognosis and correct drug selection in protozoal diseases, to teach prevention and control of epidemic diseases.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to identify the genus and species of parasite protozoans in domestic animals and human
2   To be able to grasp clinical, laboratory and necropsy findings of the important protozoans diseases
3   To be able to comprehend prognosis and choosing correct drugs for protozoan diseases
4   To be able to apply prevention and control techniques in epidemic diseases
5   To be able to make information based comment on the zoonotic protozoans and can take preventive measures for public health

10 Histomonas, Giardia, Entamoba, Naegleria, Acanthomoeba
11 Giardia, Entamoba
12 Cryptosporidae, Sarcocytidae, Sarcosystis, Frankiella
13 Toxoplasmatidae: Toxoplasma, Hammondia, Besnoitea, Neospora.
