Course Objective

The objective of this course is to equip the graduates of the Veterinary Faculty with the knowledge and skills required to identify and treat the arthropod diseases of domestic and wild animals and to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of such diseases; to protect community health through identifying the zoonotic arthropoda and taking necessary precautions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will learn the morphologic features of arthropoda.
2   Students will learn the biologic features of arthropods of domestic and wild animals.
3   Students will be able to make clinical and laboratory diagnosis of arthopod diseases in domestic and wild animals.
4   Students will be able to treat the arthropod diseases of domestic and wild animals.
5   Students will be able to take measures to prevent the spread of arthropod diseases.
6   Students will be able to identify the zoonotic arthropoda and take precautions againsts the spread of the disease.

5 Morphological features, life cycles, pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and control methods of Siphinoptera (fleas) and Heteroptera (Cimicidae, Reduvidae) orders
6 General characteristics of the Hymenoptera, Coleoptera, Lepidoptera
7 General Characteristics of Diptera and Cyclorrapha
8 Midterm exam
9 General characteristics of the families Calliphoridae (Phormia, Cordylobia, Cochliomyia) and Sarcophagidae (Wolfahrtia, Sarcophaga)
