The aim of this course is to give basic information about the chemical and metabolic properties of drugs used in the treatment of animal diseases, determination of effective and lethal doses of drugs, and also their application, prescription and licensing.

1 Drugs: Definition, sources, nomenclature, doses, structure-effect relationship and medical chemistry
2 Ways of using drugs and absorption
3 Distribution of drugs in the body
4 Changes to drugs in the body
5 Disposal of medicines
6 Kinetic calculations, absorption, disintegration, excretion and metabolism kinetics, binding to plasma proteins, plasma drug density
7 Mode of action of drugs
8 Dose intensity effect relationship
9 Interaction between drugs, factors that change the effects of drugs
10 Drug resistance and addiction
11 Undesirable effects of drugs
12 Classification, licensing, distribution, sale and control of veterinary medicine
13 Drug forms
14 Writing a prescription
