General Description

History

Dokuz Eylul University institute of social sciences, the department of information management was founded in 2011. R-D and Innovation management master s program which is still in department carries education out as an interdisciplinary program. The language of education of the program in which intending to provide synergy and perfection in industrial establishments focusing on research and development activities and service businesses and basic-clinic researches like research and development centres and aiming to train researching, performing people in making such research centres sustainable is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

There are 14 lecturers and 1 research assistant from different disciplines in Dokuz Eylul University institute of social sciences, the department of information management R-D and innovation management program. There are 40 pc (laboratory) to be used by students and in lessons and they are available to use between 8:30 and 17:00.There is thesis library, computer lab. And also wireless internet connection to be used by our students to support their Projects and thesis. The language of the courses which is offered in the program is Turkish.

1   Being able to use advanced level theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the field of R & D and Innovation Management and to develop unique ideas for the field.
2   Being able to take advantage of the other disciplines underlying the field of R & D and Innovation Management and to have advanced level knowledge about these disciplines.
3   Being able to examine concepts and ideas in the field of R & D and Innovation Management with scientific methods, interpret data and evaluate.
4   Being able to take responsibility in order to solve unforeseen problems related to R & D and Innovation Management, accreditation and quality and encountered in practice individually and as a team member.
5   Being able to critically evaluate advanced level knowledge and skills acquired in the field of R & D and Innovation Management, to produce knowledge from information, to identify learning needs and to direct the learning process.
6   Being able to inform people who are not expert or experts, on issues related to the field, with whom being able to share ideas, problems and solutions by supporting with quantitative and qualitative data.
7   Being able to interpret theoretical debates about R & D and Innovation Management and contribute to related literature.
8   Being able to have social, scientific and ethical values at the stages of data collection in the field of R & D and Innovation Management, interpretation, and dissemination.
9   Being able to follow, understand, interpret and analyze changing trends in the world at an advanced level in R & D and Innovation Management.
10   Being able to practice innovation and innovative working principles related to R & D and Innovation Management
11   Being able to identify objectives and attempt to achieve these objectives, be creative and open to criticism.
12   Being able to use a foreign language at European Language Portfolio B2 General Level in order to follow and use knowledge in R & D and Innovation Management, and communicate with colleagues.
13   Being capable of having computer software and hardware knowledge and using information and communication technologies at an advanced level.
14   Being able to critically examine and develop social relations and the principles of directing these relationships.
15   Being able to develop strategic approaches in the face of emerging tasks in the work environment by applying expert knowledge and using expert knowledge sources.
16   Being able to have and use law knowledge about patent application , innovation and know how marketing.
17   Being able to evaluate the performance of quality management systems in accordance with the principles of quality economy (quality costs). Being able to establish, document and manage Quality Cost System.
18   Being able to establish and manage national and international risk and safety management systems.
19   Being able to assignment as management representative or expert system responsible for establishment and management of R&D systems.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Our students who graduate from post graduate programs can find jobs in public institutes, R-D units of companies, advanced Technologies, informatics and software development sector, medical centres etc companies, and as R-D administrator, administrator assistant, production planning and control, system supervisor. Also, they can work as research assistant, lecturers and academic in university departments.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

The Master's program Research-Development (R&D) and Innovation Management has 120 ECTS and the duration is four semesters. The program consists of compulsory courses, elective courses, and a thesis. Pre-condition is not required in taking lessons. In the lessons of the program which are theory and practice lessons, utilizing the other disciplines which are the roots of R-D and Innovation Management and having high degree of knowledge about these disciplines, examining the concepts and ideas related to R-D and Innovation Management with scientific methods, interpreting and evaluating dates and putting into practice these innovations and innovative study principles related with the branch are important.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS) and field study (3 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
