General Description

History

Economics is a subject that explores the process through which economic units make decisions with respect to allocation of scarce resources. The content of the economics discipline covers wide variety of issues related to public policies such as markets, government, institutions, growth, development, inflation and unemployment.

Financial Economics Master Program without Thesis offers to candidates aiming to be employed in public and private sectors a vast pool of wisdom in financial economic theory, along with the skills required in application of the theory. The program s goal is to improve candidates capabilities in assessment, evaluation and policy-forming by focusing on the fundamentals of the discipline of economics. The compulsory and elective subjects have been designed with the goal of developing skills for recognizing financial economic concepts, reading and interpreting the economy and conducting economic analysis methods. The means of education of the program is English.

In order to realize its goals, the program aims to

a) Equip students with the required knowledge of financial economic theory
b) Make sure students can support this knowledge with their own studies
c) Improve students ağabeylities to analyze and interpret

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all the courses in the curriculum and seminar with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 / 4.00 and minimum 90 ECTS.

Profile of the Programme

Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Business Department of Economics (English), Financial Economics Master Program without Thesis comprised of 11 instructor and 6 research assistant. Within the body of the faculty, there are 4 seminar halls, 2 intelligent/technological classrooms, 21 classrooms, 3 computer laboratories and a conference hall which are endowed with necessary equipment. There are 85 computers in the computer laboratories, lounge and library within the body of the faculty, which are available to student access between the hours 08.30 22.00 in business days. The means of education of the program is English.

Financial Economics Master Program Without Thesis offers to candidates aiming to be employed in public and private sectors a vast pool of wisdom in economic theory, along with the skills required in application of the theory. Our graduates can acquire positions in different fields of the private sector, such as banking, consulting firms, audit companies and many of them are employed in important foreign enterprises. In public sector, our graduates can be employed at Banks, Central Bank, and any public institution that can be applied with Public Personnel Exam (KPSS).

Graduates may apply to the related employment positions in their area of specialization.

The Financial Economics Master Program Without Thesis involves fundamental subjects of economics such as microeconomics and macroeconomics and those which contain economic analysis methods at levels required by candidates working/aiming to work in public and private institutions. The properties of the program in terms of its academic plan is as follows: - The compulsory subjects in the program involve fundamental micro and macroeconomics and those which offer economic analysis methods that would deepen the canditates knowledge of economics to professional level. - Within the program, students can choose between electives from a variety of fields of specialization. The electives help candidates focus on different areas of specialization depending on their varying career goals. The economic point of view the program aims to supply is supported with up-to-date topics and applications within the context of compulsory and elective subjects. - All of the subjects have been designed in order to help candidates who have/have not received formal education in economics gain required knowledge and skills in interpretation, evaluation and application of economics.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Measurement and evaluation methods for each course are defined in the course syllabi prepared by the instructor/s. Exams and course notes, in relation to the success DEU Graduate School of Social Sciences and Examination Regulations and the relevant articles of the Code of Practice applies to the Education and Examinations.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Non-Thesis Program is comprised of courses (at least 80 ECTS), Term Project (10 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/S/TP grades.
