DEGREE PROGRAMMES

: Medical Biology and Genetics

General Description

History

The Department of Medical Biology and Genetics at Dokuz Eylul University was founded in 1982, and is bringing together research interests of both clinical and experimental genetics from a number of different collaborations. The DEMBG is a part of the Central Diagnostic Laboratory at DEU Hospital which provides cytogenetic and molecular genetics diagnostic services for patients since 1995. Research and courses of molecular biology and genetics for MD and Residency programs in the DEU Medical School and Graduate Programs in DEU Health Sciences Institute are given by DEMBG. Our department mostly focuses on molecular genetics research on sporadic as well as familial cancers. In addition to cancer, there are other areas of research going on focusing on the identification of genes or molecular mechanisms associated with complex diseases. The MSc program is composed of four semester including thesis project. The program language is Turkish.
