General Description
History |
The Department of Molecular Medicine was founded in 2009 as a multidisciplinary department under the umbrella of the Graduate School of Health Sciences, with the legal approval from the High Council of Education in Ankara. Faculty members from various departments of basic sciences (Biochemistry, Medical Biology, Pathology, Histology-Embryology, Pharmacology, Basic Oncology) and clinical sciences (Paediatrics and Internal Medicine) take part in this department. MSc training in Molecular Medicine has been started in the academic year 2009-2010. The programme lasts two years including two semesters of courses and two semesters of thesis work. The programme language is Turkish. |

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) |
According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective. |
Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades. |
Profile of the Programme |
The aim of this program is to train individuals who have basic and current theoretical and laboratory knowledge in molecular medicine and related fields, and who are equipped with both basic laboratory technical skills and the skills necessary for their thesis; to train students in subjects such as analysis, synthesis, evaluation, data collection and scientific methodology and scientific communication. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Assessment of courses take place using two mid-term and one final examination, written assignments, and projects. The minimum requirement for success is 75/100 points. |
