General Description
History |
The Department of International Relations was founded in 1992 within the Faculty of Business. The aim of the Department is to train students who can approach the dynamics of international relations and political developments from an academic perspective. The fields in the Department are International Relations, Political History. Law of Nations, EU Law, EU Politics and International Relations. The aim is to educate creative, provocative students who can efficiently practice their ability of analytical and critical thinking, embrace ethical values, and are inclined to teamwork and democratic participation. The medium of instruction is English. |

Graduates of the (UOLP-Suny Albany) Joint Programme will be awarded with International Relations, Bachelor's Degree from both Universities. |

In order to graduate from the Joint Programme, Students have to successfully complete all courses in the curriculum and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (C.G.P.A.) of 2.00/4.00 and 240 ECTS. Graduation from the SUNY Albany University requires the achievement of 3.00/4.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (C.G.P.A.). |
Profile of the Programme |
Students enrolled in the Joint Programme will study the first two years in Dokuz Eylül University, and the last two years in the SUNY Albany University. In the initial two years of their study, the students are expected to take the main courses of the international relations programme of Dokuz Eylül University. In their third and fourth years, students take courses from the SUNY Albany University leading to the opportunity of receiving two bachelor degrees in a four years study period. The Joint Programme is aimed at giving the prospective students the opportunity of studying abroad. The instruction of language is English in both programmes. |

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples |
Graduates of the International Relations Department of Dokuz Eylül University have various opportunities for employment in the public and private sector. In the private sector, our department has graduates who work in finance, sales and marketing, and human resources departments of banks, independent auditing firms and companies with foreign trade activities; as well as in telecommunications and media. We also have graduates in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs pursuing their careers as diplomats. Our graduates also work in various state institutions and non-governmental organizations as EU specialists or foreign trade specialists. Those who have preferred an academic career, are working on their masters or PhD degrees in universities at home and abroad. Some of them are working as research assistants particularly at departments of International Relations, Political Science and Public Administration. |

Graduation Requirements |
The Bachelors Degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all the courses in the curriculum and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 / 4.00 and 240 ECTS. In order to graduate from the SUNY Albany University, students have to fulfill the 3.00/4.00 (CGPA). |
