Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 30 ECTS-25-26 credit course), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. In total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

In this program, it is aimed to enable the student to obtain deep knowledge in the field of psychiatric nursing, transfer the knowledge of psychiatric nursing to the application field, access to the knowledge in the field, assess the knowledge critically, make scientific research and contribute to the field.
Program contains 3-4 Compulsory Course each semester and elective courses in different fields. Students may take courses from different programs and university.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   The student has the expert-level knowledge that would fulfill the psychiatric functions of meeting the primer, seconder and tetriary level health care needs of individual, family and community.
2   The student has basic research knowledge aimed at planning, conducting and reporting a research.
3   The student uses theoretical and practical knowledge in psychiatric nursing.
4   The student solves the problems in psychiatric nursing through using the research process.
5   The student transfers the up-to-date developments in the field to the groups inside and outside of the field in a written, verbal, visual and systematic way.
6   The student apply nursing interventions in the primer, seconder and tetriary level health care needs of individual, family and community.
7   The student consults her/his colleagues in relation with patient care and self-care.
8   The student motivates the occupational members and defends the discipline.
9   The student contributes to the interdisciplinary team work and leads in the solution of problems in required environments.
10   The student conducts researches that contribute to the knowledge and practice of psychiatric nursing and transfers them to the application field.
11   The student publishes a scientific article on a national and international-level journal or present it in a scientific meeting.
12   The student guides in using scientific and ethical values in practices.
13   The student interprets strategical, political and practical plans related with psychiatric nursing and assesses the obtained results.
14   The student follows the knowledge in the field by using a foreign language and makes contact with foreign colleagues.

This degree enables the holder to exercise the profession in the public or private sector.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates may apply to PhD programmes in Psychiatric Nursing.

Assessment of students was done with 1 midterm examination, 1 final examination, homework and project studies. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.
