Course Objective

In this course, the physical, social and cultural development of humankind from the Paleolithic period to the Roman period will be briefly discussed regionally and periodically. In the course, the materials produced by human beings for their developing and changing needs, starting from prehistoric times, will be discussed. Various factors that direct material production are geography, religion, trade, raw materials, etc. The formation of human beings' material culture will be tried to be explained by taking these elements into consideration.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Understanding the reasons for the emergence of material culture
2   Evaluating the effects of human beings' physical and social development on material culture from the Paleolithic period to the Roman period
3   Perception of the changing material culture of human beings regionally and periodically
4   Observing the change of material culture through works from the relevant period in museums
5   Understanding the effects of geography, belief and regional influences on material culture
