Course Objective

It focuses on researching during design process, identifying problems, (product) function analysis, developing concept, product critics, developing creative product suggestions, solving technical details, the process of converting knowledge on identifying material and production method into professional products. The importance of corporate identity in product design; the system of a company on a designed product, brand image, teaching methods to employ as well as production philosophy. It aims to improve accessory products, the consistence of taught methods and design collections with preparing collection disciplines, lecturing the basic information on improving product process from the perspective of brandization.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Have collection preparation process and individual team work discipline. Design and improve new-original-functional-producible products in commercial reality and detail
2   Research the production process, develop concept and scenario, study to express his / her thoughts through different themes and design exercise
3   Have information on brand formation in terms of branding and marketing and product development
4   Perform technical detail analysis, select and recommend suitable materials, mechanism, production techniques
5   Take part in the evaluations in the class, make comments on / have critical perspective upon the designs of other projects. Defend his / her designs and presentations, have the ability of expressing his / her ideas literally or visually in front of the evaluation jury within the scope of Collection Preparation II.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

... target groups are determined and the knowledge is supported by the research. Two projects are prepared by aiming different doctrines. The steps of the design process are; Rearch And Development And Sketch Process :1. Step visual and technical research on assigned theme and presenting by a report, 2.Step Determining the suitable product groups for target group via charcoal and colourful design studies, 3.Step Preparing an image sheet by utilizing the 1st and 2nd steps, 4. Step performing three dimensional form sketches by utilizing the 2nd and 3rd steps, 5. Step... performing colour scheme by utilizing the 2nd step, 6.Step originating from the data, preparing leather, texture, plastic and paper surface designs in order to use in two dimensional surfaces, 7. Step performing last and vamp designs if the projects groups are shoes, 8. Step designing the accessories if there is any Design Process: Technical analysis is made by improving the determined sketches and determining the designs. Presentation Process: Sheet designs suitable for the theme are prepared.
Catalogue studies prepared from the project research-sketch-application visuals are completed.

1. Performance of students during the sketch and application period,

3. Their performance in front of the evaluation jury (their abilities of defending their designs, technical and presentation sheets and products) will be taken into consideration at course evaluation stage.

Course Policies and Rules

1.There is an 80 % obligation in attendance to lesson.
2. All plagiarism attempts and actions would end up in disciplinary punishment
3. If one doesn t hand over the required sketch- design studies on time, the evaluation would be carried out by taking this into consideration. But the student is supposed to hand over required things.
4. For late project deliveries, decreasing a letter grade for each day will be applied.
