Course Objective

The main objective of this course is to provide students a thorough understanding of the strategic importance of quality management and how quality tools and Quality Function Deployment methodology can be used to provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Assessment Criteria

Mid-Term Exam
Students will be assessed on their knowledge of concepts and theories through multiple choice, essay and problem based written exam.

Topic Presentation
Students will individually prepare a presentation on quality awards, quality standards and tools of quality. No report is required. BUT all students should upload their presentation files in pdf format to the Sakai platform. Time allowed for presentations is minimum 60 minutes. Topic Presentations will be included in Mid-Term Exam. Students are expected to be prepared professionally for the topic presentations. The students should also provide related materials like videos, articles or case studies during their topic presentations. All materials should be approved by the instructor before the presentations.

VERBAL AND NON-VERBAL SKILLS BASED ON INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE %50 -Individual performance will be graded

Confidence:
Ease of movement, minimal tension Excellent (100%)
Occasional mistakes but recovers quickly Very Good (80%)
Some tension noted, stiff body language - Good (60%)
Tense body language, frequent mistakes Fair (40%)
Tension and nervousness are obvious, multiple mistakes Poor (0%)

Connection:
Frequent eye contact, readily engages audience (100%)
Consistent eye contact, uses notes infrequently Very Good (80%)
Some eye contact, dependent on notes Good (60%)
Minimal eye contact, frequently using notes Fair (40%)
